Description
I have called you by name was composed for the Baptism of my son, and sung by the choir of St Stephen’s Church, Canterbury, during the service.
The text – selected verses from the opening of Isaiah Chapter 43 – were read at Evensong while we were singing in St Alban’s Cathedral in the spring of 2023 when we were going through the IVF process, and stuck with us throughout the journey, it seemed most apt to include them, set to music, in the Baptism service.
The anthem is scored for SATB (with occasional divisi) and organ.
